220729-N-YB310-1588 PACIFIC OCEAN (July 29, 2022) A U.S. Navy MV-22B Osprey assigned to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron (VMM) 363, Republic of Korea (ROK) Navy amphibious assault vehicles and the Dokdo-class amphibious assault ship ROKS Marado (LPH 6112) participate in an amphibious operations exercise during Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) 2022. Twenty-six nations, 38 ships, three submarines, more than 170 aircraft and 25,000 personnel are participating in RIMPAC from June 29 to Aug. 4 in and around the Hawaiian Islands and Southern California. The world’s largest international maritime exercise, RIMPAC provides a unique training opportunity while fostering and sustaining cooperative relationships among participants critical to ensuring the safety of sea lanes and security on the world’s oceans. 220428-N-N1109-0101 APRA HARBOR, Guam (April 28, 2022) Contracted mariners aboard MV Cape Horn load 1st Marine Aircraft Wing MV-22 Ospreys assigned to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 363 (VMM-363) from Marine Corps Base Hawaii onto the Military Sealift Command ship April 28 in Apra Harbor, Guam. 1st MAW recently participated in Balikatan 22. The air wing trains continuously with joint forces, partners and allies in challenging and realistic environments and scenarios. “While we have the fittings for this aircraft, this marked the first time we were able to load V-22s onto Cape Horn,” said Capt. Benjamin Day, master of the ship. “Hopefully, we can continue to support the Marines in this way again in the future.” Joint events, like the Cape Horn onload, demonstrate interoperability and helps ensure MSC and 1st MAW remain proficient, ready, and forward postured.
